TRIBUTE

Top Image sign named for: WWI Sgt. Henry Veal, II
Veal-Solomon Highway Sign

The AWAAR Center was instrumental in researching and documenting service of a WWI Ancestor and developing a narrative that moved the State of Georgia to name a State Highway after him.

We also assist with garnering local community and family support to identify and facilitate an appropriate tribute to your ancestor including but not limited to Historical Markers; Plaques honoring workers who influenced facilities; schools; organizations; institutions; renaming of streets, bridges and highways.

We annually create handcrafted WREATHS identifying them as African American Servicemen from Veterans Day to the end of the year.

Your Ancestors are Ready for Their Story to be Told. Let’s Go!

What are you waiting for?

The AWAAR Center is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing the stories of the valor of our WWI Heroes while highlighting African American heroes from the Revolutionary War to WWII.

Our emphasis and concentration has and will always be on African Americans from WWI. The AAHGS-ATL Military Special Interest Group (MIL-SIG) focus is  identifying and compiling AA research resources for all of the above-mentioned wars.
